11/21/2009 - Science Saturdays - Marine Mammals - Participants will learn about the characteristics that define a marine mammal and the underwater communication techniques they use, as well as have the opportunity to make marine-themed crafts. Children in kindergarten through fifth grade are invited to participate from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Attendance is free, and preregistration is recommended. Call 809-4750 to register. Discovery Saturdays are held the third Saturday of every month, and provide kids an opportunity to have fun while learning about the environmental and cultural resources of the Florida Keys. The Eco-Discovery Center is located at 35 East Quay Road in the Dr. Nancy Foster Environmental Complex, on the Truman Annex waterfront in Key West. Free parking is available. The free Florida Keys Eco-Discovery Center offers more than 6,400 square feet of displays and exhibits, and is managed by the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary.
